What’s to do and see

Lubersac is situated in the Corrèze, between Limoges and Brive la Gaillarde, just outside the Dordogne and a little south of the Haute Vienne. With about 15 minutes drive from the A20 motorway, in the middle of the vast sloping landscape of the Limousin, Lubersac is easy to reach. You drive between the meadows with the famous and peaceful grazing Limousin cow, and apple orchards.

The name Lubersac comes from Latin, and means “rich roman”. Wealth and buildings from Gallo-Roman times are still clearly visible in Lubersac and its surroundings. The cultural and historical heritage makes the town of Lubersac breathe antiquity and has that typical French atmosphere. Apart from the history, Lubersac also has the conveniences of the present time. The town has several amenities such as 3 supermarkets just a few km from our domaine. There are also a few bakers, a butcher, and a pharmacy. Come to our gite for the tranquility of the campaign, with a lot of convenience in the neighborhood.

Of course you can enjoy the peace and quiet at “Le secret…”, but you are also welcome for trips. In the immediate vicinity of Lubersac are many nice and special places to discover.

Arnac Pompadour, at about 6 km, The equestrian centre for the wide area, with a racecourse, and hippodrome. It is a beautiful town with a castle, the abbey church and a chapel. Several nice restaurants and terraces.

Ségur-le-Chateau is a medieval village, and is considered one of the most beautiful villages in France. The medieval village is full of charm, and historic buildings. The artists and craftsmen who once inhabited the village have left their inheritance beautifully. situated on a peaceful river and with a high castle on top of a rocky outcrop. Worth a visit, and only 8 km away from us.

Uzerche is also called the pearl of the Limousin. On the water a side branch of the Vézère- and on a rock formation this beautiful settlement town is about 12 km away. Its strategic location has ensured that since the Middle Ages there have been beautiful buildings, churches and streets that can still be admired. A city walk is very worthwhile, with beautiful gardens, orchards and terraces. In the summer months there are several fun events. And also at some distance there are many nice villages and towns to discover. Ask us about them…

(Farmers’) markets. Farmers’ markets only offer products from farmers and artisan producers and are held in the summer months close by.

Food… The cuisine of our region is characterized by apples, cherries, truffles, and the Limousin cow. Depending on the season, the most delicious dishes are made and the markets are full. Both in Lubersac and in the pictures in the area offer good restaurants.
If you stay in our gite, and our garden begins to grow, blossom and give, you can enjoy the most delicious fruits and vegetables from our abundant garden. Walnuts, hazelnuts, apples, cherries, courgettes, beets, come and have a look. The Table D’hote license is pending.

Hiking, water and rivers. The river Vézère is about 10 km away and is very popular among anglers and kayakers. The Vézère has carved deep gorges in the granite of the Massif Central, and now makes its way through the wide valley, past Brive to end up in the river Dordogne. The gorges of the Vézère and the river itself are ideal for all kinds of recreational activities in nature, such as white-water sports, mountain biking or climbing. But also during a lovely hike you can enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Various routes such as the GR46 offer vantage points and views of the beautiful landscape.

Shopping. Would you like a day of shopping? That’s fine in Brive or Limoges at ~45 minutes.
